Skin Biopsies at Carrick Medical Centre

A skin biopsy is performed for a suspicious skin lesion (ie. a mole or spot) to diagnose skin cancer early, and allow the patient to receive efficient teatment from a specialist.
Another benefit of skin biopsies, is the reassurance it offers when a sample is returned as normal. In these cases, further referral is often not needed, and the patient can rest assured that the lesion is not cancerous.

Visit the Iish Cancer Society website for more information on skin lesions and skin cancer.
